It is the Korean version of Thanksgiving and one of the largest holidays in the Korean calendar. During this season means a break from work for it is a time to celebrate the family to give thanks for all the blessings. Lots of traditional foods are served, most especially “songpyeon”. Songpyeon is the food symbol of Chuseok, it cannot be omitted and it’s a tradition. It’s a kind of “dduk”, a type of sticky pounded-rice cake with sweetened sesame or a chestnut inside.

This festival is one of the most celebrated event in Korea.  It is a family gathering wherein visiting their ancestors tombs to pay respect and offer rice and fruits is one of the acts. In the evening, children wear their favorite “hanbok” (traditional Korean clothing) and dance under the bright moon in a large circle. They play games and sing songs.
